There are many choices of floor materials, from wood to ceramics, and from bamboo carpets, each material has its advantages and disadvantages, and the main choice of floor materials is carpet, which has become one of the biggest sales outlets for manufacturers. The carpet gives people a warm, comfortable and gorgeous feeling. Due to the natural insulation and heat insulation of the carpet, it reduces your air conditioning costs and saves you money. The carpet also has sound-absorbing properties, making the residence more peaceful. The carpet itself Therefore, it has the characteristics of playing a buffering role, so it can prevent slipping, reduce collisions, and walk safely. Today's popular carpets range in color from bright to light, piles from soft to strong, use from urban to outdoor, structural styles and raw fibers. Wide variety, beyond the scope of traditional artificial wool rugs. Of course, in order to identify the carpet in detail, it is necessary to further understand the surface fiber structure and the bottom layer of the carpet.
In carpet production, fiber type
In the production of carpets, there are many types of fibers, these fiber types include: natural fibers, man-made fibers and synthetic fibers. Natural fibers such as wool, silk, jute and cotton are used in expensive carpets. Man-made fibers used in the production of carpets include: Nylon, Olefin, Acnylic and Polyester. In recent years, the emergence of synthetic fibers has gradually met the requirements of other carpet fibers.
1. Natural Fiber
Among the natural fibers required for mass production of carpets today, wool is the only reliable one. This kind of carpet raw material used since ancient times has many desirable advantages, such as softness, warmth and comfort, inner elasticity and good dyeability. But wool cannot accept cutting-edge and complicated dyeing processes, and the development of color is greatly restricted. Because wool is obtained from different wools, and wool grows in different regions, the length and relative degree, luster and characteristics of wool are different. The quality of the product is difficult to be uniform, and the wool used in carpets, usually a blend, has many grades to achieve "average" uniformity. Wool is the most expensive of all carpet fibers and is still not as durable as most man-made or synthetic fibers.
2. Synthetic Fibers
There are many kinds of man-made fibers, the most common fibers are nylon, olefin, polypropylene and polyester, etc. I will introduce the following types:
a) Nylon fiber (Nylon as carpet fiber)
Today, more than 80% of man-made fibers are made of nylon, and nylon fiber is the most expensive type of man-made fiber. As the surface of carpets, it has the following advantages and disadvantages:
1 It is resistant to scratches, so it is the most important raw material for carpet production.
2 Anti-fouling and easy to clean, unlike wool has dust balls
3 Soft and Pengsong are the best raw materials for the production of "long wool carpet"
4 There are many sizes for manufacturers to choose
5 feel worse than wool carpet
6 Weak fire protection function
7 easily damaged by acidic substances
8 Susceptible to degradation by sunlight
b) Acnylic as carpet fiber
1 touch and feel very like wool
2 cheap
3 soft and fluffy, wear-resistant
4 not fireproof
5 Poor rebound after pressure
6. Weaker scratch resistance than nylon, fluff and loop hair are rough
c) Polyester as carpet fiber
1 Anti-abrasion, promote textile effect
2 is more like wool than other fibers, if a luxurious feeling
3 bright, easy to clean
3. Carpet Construction
The most common types of carpets are: Tufted Carpets, Woven Carpets, Needle Punched Carpets, Fusion Bonded Carpets etc.
Most of the carpets are tufted carpets, which are produced by tufting machines. This type of textile can be operated on needles (density). The bundled fibers are woven into loops, and the loops are inserted into the first layer of thick latex to secure the loops. Position it, and then glue the second layer of backing (Secondanybacking) to make it firmer. Tufting is the most economical production method for making carpets today. Because the tufting method is cheaper than the weaving method, the quality of the tufted carpet is reliable, and the quality of the tufted carpet is high. It has a "spinning" effect. At present, there are more than 90% of the carpet manufacturers in the world. Use this method.
2. Woven Carpet
The weaving method is the second most common production method. This method uses different processes to interweave the weft and warp yarns to form a carpet. Each type of weaving can produce carpets with different appearances (carpet surfaces), such as:
a) Axminster carpet ((Axminster)
b) A kind of Chenille, chenille carpet
c) Shearing carpet (i.e. shearing carpet) (Velvet)
d) Wilton pile carpet (Wilton), etc.
